<hr color="#FF6666" width="100%" size="3"><br>
<b>Where should I download the driver and what to I do after downloading?</b>
<br>
<br>
Go to our web site and download the latest driver for the modem.<br>
<a href="http://www.phoebemicro.com/products">http://www.phoebemicro.com/products</a>
<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;1. Match the model number in the back of the modem card.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;2. Download the driver from our web site.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;3. Open the file, save the entire "opened" file into a temp folder.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;     Ex: c:/driver<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;4. Update the driver.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  Go to 'Control Panel/System/Device Manager/Modem/Properties/Driver/Update driver'<br>
* Please make sure you have an unzip software installed.<br>
** If the file is lager than a floppy, please unzip the file first, then save them by several floppy diskettes. Bring and save them into the hard drive where the modem is.<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>I can't install the modem driver from the CD that came with the modem.</b>
<br>
<br>
You might have selected a wrong location on the CD. Please make sure you select to the folder which contains the *.inf file. Or, you may download a driver from our web site (see the previous question).
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>Why does my computer freeze when I try to use my modem, or fail to start after I have installed the modem?</b>
<br>
<br>
There are 2 reasons:<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp; 1. Incomplete installation or wrong driver: Please remove all drivers completely and reinstall.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp; 2. IRQ conflict: Please refer to Q4.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b> What should I do if I have an IRQ conflict?</b>
<br>
<br>
Disable on board com ( serial ) port in the BIOS first.
<br>
PCI modem: PCI modem does not allow you to change IRQ manually. You may plug the modem into another PCI slot.<br>
ISA modem: Please set the jumpers to the available IRQ, make sure there is no sharing with any other major devices.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>Why does Windows fail to detect the modem as a new hardware?</b>
<br>
<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp; 1. Check if the BIOS Plug & Play OS mode is enabled.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp; 2. Change the modem to another slot.<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;   3. If it's ISA, set the jumpers to Plug & Play<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>When I dial out, I get an error "No dial tone." (Error 690)</b>
<br>
<br>
Check the phone line by plugging a phone into the modem and see if you hear a dial tone. If you don't, change the phone cord. If you do, reinstall the modem. It could also be that the speaker on the modem is defective.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b> How do I use the voice feature?</b>
<br>
<br>
Using the Windows Phone Dialer would not let you use the modem as a phone. You can only use the modem as a phone through other software, such as Cheyenne Bit ware or Win Fax Pro.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>Why does my connection disconnect after 10 to 20 minutes or slow connection (under 28K)?</b><br>
<br>
<br>
Check your line quality first. Most of the time the line isn't clear enough or has static. Get the most updated modem driver from our web site. In order to establish a connection, you may try to enter the strings:
<br>
AT+MS=V90,1,28800,52000,300,500<br>
or<br>
AT+MS=[V90,[1,[28800,[52000,[300,[500]]]]]
<br>
<br>
explanation:<br>
V90- the connecting mode<br>
1  - auto mode, "1" is on, "0" is off<br>
28800- Min connection rate<br>
52000- Max connection rate<br>
300- transfer rate<br>
500- receiving rate<br>
<br>
This may vary according to different modems, so refer to the user manual in the CD-ROM ("manual.pdf").<br>
For information on how to enter the strings, see the question below regarding Strings.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>Why does my modem makes noise when dialing?</b>
<br>
<br>
You may enter the following string to disable the sound: "ATM0".
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>Where do I insert an initialization string?</b>
<br>
<br>
Start > Settings &gt; Control Panel &gt; Modem properties &gt; Connection &gt; Advanced &gt; Extra Settings
<br>
<br>
<br>
<b>Why does my system reboot when I want to connect?</b>
<br>
<br>
Try inserting the modem in another slot. If the problem persists, return the modem to the retailer.
