FAQ: TV Master

Are there any Windows NT drivers available for the TV Tuner Card?

We do not have any Windows NT drivers available for the TV Tuner Card. The TV Tuner Card itself does not support Windows NT.

When I load the Tview program, I get an error message "BT848 Grappler Load Library Fail 1114 or 1157".

This error indicates the TV Tuner Card's capture driver is not installed.

  1.  Go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager
  2.  Look for a yellow question mark described by Windows as "Other Device" (if you do not see a yellow question mark in Device Manager, skip to step 4).
  3.  Click on the "+" sign to bring out what is under "Other Device".
  4.  Look for "PCI Multimedia Video Device", highlight the item and click on "Remove".
  5.  Insert the TV Tuner Card CD into your CD-ROM and reboot your system.
  6.  When Windows prompts you for "PCI Multimedia Video Device" driver, specify the driver location using either the "Other Location" or the "Specify Location" button to "D:\English" (where "D" is the letter of your CD-ROM drive; your CD-ROM drive letter may be different).
  7.  Follow the rest of the installation procedures on the screen.

After the Tview program loads up, I get an error message "Direct draw is not enabled, Overlay option is disabled".

You do not have Direct X installed in the system.
  1.  Insert the TV Tuner Card CD into your CD-ROM.
  2.  Wait for 5 seconds for the auto-menu to pop up. (if the auto-menu did not show up, right click the CD drive icon and select "Auto-Play").
  3.  Run the Direct X setup file.

My remote controller does not work.

The Infrared Sensor Cable may not have been plugged into the TV Tuner card before installation. Connect the Infrared Sensor Cable to the TV Capture Card before turning on your computer.

I get an error about a "Video capture driver software conflict".

Check to see if you have another video capture software driver (other than the one for the TV Tuner Card) already installed on your computer. If you do, uninstalling it should solve the problem.

  1. Go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Audio, Video and Game Controller, and remove any "Video Capture" device other than TV capture card.
  2. Go to Control Panel > Multimedia > Advanced > Video Capture Device, and remove any "Video Capture" device other than TV capture card.

How can I switch the TView application from "overlay" mode to "preview" mode?

Right click on the video display window, and select "Overlay".

I am unable to obtain any audio from the TV Tuner card, but I can see the pictures fine.

There are two ways you can get audio from the TV Tuner card:
  1.  Directly plug the speaker into the TV Card [Audio Out].
  2.  Plug the audio cable (black and red) into the [Audio Out] on the TV Tuner Card, and plug into the [Audio In on the sound card].

I do not get audio after capturing AVI.

In order to Capture AVI and get audio, you must be running in windows 98 with Sound Blaster Creative 16 Bits Plug-N-Play.
  1.  Go to Volume Control
  2.  Click Options
  3.  Go to Properties
  4.  Put a check on "Recording" under "Adjust Volume For..."
  5.  Put a check on "Line" under "Show the Following Volume Controls..."
  6.  Click OK. Put a check on "Select" under "Line Balance"

Are there conflicts with some types of AGP cards?

Some AGP cards will use the same IRQ as the TV Capture Card. Try another PCI slot or avoid using the same IRQ.

What are Preview Mode and Overlay Mode?

Preview Mode: User can preview the status of capturing video before doing the video capture.
Overlay Mode: Provides real time video and better image quality. The VGA card must support Direct Draw function and DirectX 5.0 must be installed.

Ever since I changed my VGA, the TV Tuner Card became very unstable. Why is this?

Below is a list of video cards known to have conflicts with the TV Tuner Card.
SIS 620 SIS620 does not support overlay mode. In order to avoid system crash, Conexant provides a preview.reg to force the video to be viewed in preview mode only. Conexant also provides overlay.reg to enable overlay mode if customer upgrades to a VGA with hardware overlay support.
SIS 5511/5596 Must use driver version 2.0.153 or better.
SIS 5597/5598 Must use driver version 2.3.040 or better. Prior to running the BT878/9 driver, bits 1 and 2 of register 81 must be set to logic "0". This will be done automatically with future driver releases.
S3 Savage 4 There's a known problem with S3 Savage 4 PCI chip. Please check S3's website for the latest driver that fixes the hardware overlay issue.
Cirrus Logic Graphic Blaster 3D Overall poor quality video, contact Cirrus for updated drivers.
Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro Overlay mode is not supported by the graphics controller.
Matrox Millenium/Mystique/PowerDesk Overlay mode is not supported by the graphics controller.
Cirrus Logic Speed Star 64 Graphics controller driver is not DirectDraw compliant.
Cirrus Logic 546x PCI Overall poor quality video, contact Cirrus for upgrade drivers.
